Super Delegates could smoke the democrat race.

Imagine the excitement and the drama as the race for the democrat nominee goes down to the end, it’s too close to call a leading victory for either Clinton or Obama, so the super delegates gather to make the final call with the wisp of a puff of smoke.

The current results of the Democrat primaries up through Wisconsin, Washington and Hawaii put Obama in the lead over Clinton 1319 to 1245 and the super delegate count favors Clinton 246 to Obama’s 170, with 303 uncommitted and 76 add-on delegates.   Nose to nose.  Exciting.   Either one could come away the victor, unlike the republican race, where McCain is substantially walking away with it.

But there are confusing thoughts and ideas that are circulating, which could just throw the entire democrat primary and caucus process out the window as trash, totally disregarded.

You’ve been thinking that when you vote that your vote counts.

You’ve been under the assumption that when you pull the trigger, punch out the circle, connect the dots next to your candidate of choice, that your vote will be counted toward the dots you connected?   You may be wrong.   You just may be naive at the way things really work in democrat primaries.  Those appointed super delegates could decide this entire race.

“Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign intends to go after delegates whom Barack Obama has already won in the caucuses and primaries if she needs them to win the nomination.”

“What? Isn’t that impossible? A pledged delegate is pledged to a particular candidate and cannot switch, right?”

“Wrong.”

“Pledged delegates are not really pledged at all, not even on the first ballot. This has been an open secret in the party for years, but it has never really mattered because there has almost always been a clear victor by the time the convention convened.”    Read more . . .

Don’t you just love the rules of fairness the democrat party thinks up?

And what about those super delegates?  Well, to put it simply, they are party big shots, Governors, Representatives, Senators, members of the Democrat National Committee, and Distinguished party leaders.  They can make up their own minds at the convention.  They can pledge one way now and change their mind later.  They total 795, a large enough figure that could and would sway the nomination in a tight race.

“Superdelegates represent about 20 percent of the Democrats’ 4,049 delegate votes. Both Clinton and Obama have assiduously courted them in recent months, hoping to clench enough to obtain the 2,025 votes needed to secure the nomination. As of Monday, Clinton leads Obama 222 to 128 among superdelegates.”     Politico.com

Don’t you just love the way the democrat party thinks?  You the voter are screwed.  You voted for A, in fact your entire state overwhelmingly voted for A and you were thinking that all those delegates would show up at the convention and cast the state count for candidate A.   It just may not be the way things work out.

Special rules have been developed that could and would put the election in the hands of a select appointed few super delegates if this race continues to be close enough for that to happen.  Harry Reid,  Nancy Pelosi and their comrades of the DNC could have a closed door session and make the final decision.  Just imagine thousands upon thousands of the faithful democrats on the streets of Denver waiting for the word that the super delegation has chosen the final victor.  It’d be like the Vatican Square packed elbow to elbow waiting for the smoke to billow out of the stack.  What drama, what excitement, what a thrill.  The media would have a field day covering it all.

Thus is the way it could turn out.

The people’s voice would not count.

This is progressive Liberal democracy in action.   Isn’t this the party that is always talking about fairness, about the little guy getting the same as those who fit into the ranks of the haves?  This is the party that wants to make the economy equally fair for the less fortunate, of equalizing the playing field.  This is the party that talks of making it fair for the bottom of the sociological ladder to equally afford health care.  And on and on it goes, but it’s all just a bunch of horse pooh.

Why have the democrats made special rules for themselves?

Is this the way it could turn out?

At this stage of the game, the people are being heard from, but that still does not mean the peoples choice will be nominated.  You may have to wait for the smoke.

This is how liberal democrats define democracy.  Ultimately, the powerful decide.

Not posting here anymore.

This is rather hilarious, or something along that line.  I've been away for a over a month, have created my own domain where ALL my posts are going, and I visit back to Townhall to find As I See It Now as # 3 on the top ten list.

Go figure.

Visit my blog on my own domain.    The readership traffic has been ten times what I got here.

Some of my recent posts are as follows:

Clinton, Obama proposing tax increases.

It’s a war of cartoons… and more.

Hillary Health Care, again…..but.

Either them or us. This is a war folks.

Read it all here at my new blog.

I will still periodically post something over here at TownHall, but I have found the easy of use at  WordPress so much more agreeable, and the traffic count is even greater than what I've experienced here.  The advantages out weigh the frustrations with TownHall.

Take a gander.

Breaking News: Undergound explosion near Grand Central station.

The first words out of the mouths of the officials were “there is no sign that this was an act of terrorism.” But it could be the result of a steam pipe burst due to cold condensation or a broken water main. Asbestos may be in the smoke spewing from the gapping hole in the street.    Read more....

Asbestos Hmmm?    Thought it was banned.

The all night yawn session has yawned out of votes.

This is not good news for the democrats.

The Senate forced sleep over has ended in, finally, a vote, an end (perhaps) to the summer doldrums of effort after effort to suspend the Iraq war against people who, well, ah, er, just don’t like the western way of life.  Read More...

Republicans, take note of these four Rinos who strayed from the pack.  Maine, Oregon and Nebraska ought to be ashamed of their republican representatives.

Chertoff's NEW plan for the border.

This is amazing.  The idea came from golf courses.   In a nutshell, the plan involves contratcing out to private industry the task of creating life-size sheetmetal cut outs of armed and ready border agents to be placed every 100 yards or so along our side of the border.  Golf courses have been placing life-size cutouts of wolves along the sides of ponds to keep the unwanted geese off the courses.  It works.  The only hitch is that the cut outs have to be moved daily so the geese do not get accustomed to seeing the wolves in the same position.

Will it work?   It'll work as well as any other homeland security plan to secure the border and solve the illegal human trafficking migration into the US.   And a whole lot cheaper.

Who are the rich? What is that magic number?

The democrats are debating what is the magic number that separates the rich from the middle class, and the middle class from the poor.

It’s a real problem to steal from one group of Americans and give to another group and not be considered a criminal.   How do you do all that and remain “popular” to get the most votes?   How do you do all that to fund another pet project that will get some more votes without alienating those paying for the pet project?

Read more..... for a solution.

Know the enemy. Demented acts of barbarism.

What do you make of it?  Is the story true and it actually did happen in fact?  If it did, should it not cause the western world to rise up and demand an immediate wipe out of al-Qaida, Hiroshima style?   But we all know that will never happen, ever again.  But it could happen in reverse, could it not?   Where an enemy, and in this case al-Qaida would somehow get their hands on a nuclear devise and be able to deliver it to a population center in the west and boom, lights out for millions of Westerners.  Do you have any doubts that this radical bunch of Muslims would hesitate for a minute if they had the capacity to carry out such an attack?

Demented Insane acts.  More....

A real Freedom concert tonight.

For those of you who have some cash left over by not going to one of the Lively Earth noise and profanity filled concerts, then the opportunity is here for tonight in Atlanta, Ga,  7:00pm in the Gwinnett center.   And good musical talent to boot.  Who can turn a death ear to Lee Greenwood?   And you won't, get a death ear by listening to Lee Greenwood.

On the speakers side, you'll hear from Sean Hannity, Neal Boortz (the Fair Tax man), Scott Slade (host of Morning news on Atlanta station WSB), Oliver North (the angry Marine), Newt Gingrich, and from everything you want to know about being cheap, Clark Howard.

Benefiting from the Live earth thing was Al Gores carbon Offset program, where 100,000 tress were to be planted.   Was that to be in his back yard?

Benefiting from the Freedom concert will be the children of parents who have given their all in the Iraq conflict, by supplying these kids with college scholarships.

Iraq, The trusted Michael Yon version "Second Chances"

As the democrats continue to put pressure on Bush to pull the troops out of Iraq, and Cindy Sheeeeeeeahan      threatens to run against Pelosi if Nancy does not move forward to impeach Bush, and Colin Powell appears to have lost his stripes, there is one journalist you can trust to bring us the real unadulterated stuff.   Michael Yon.  His latest dispatch from the front lines in Iraq,  "Second chances", he writes:

"When distinguished visitors come to almost-where the action is, it can be disruptive to the point of wasteful. I’ve heard commanders grumble all over Iraq about the steady streams of VIPs who, while intending to be seen observing operations, instead seize the mechanics with their clumsy footprint. These are called “dog and pony shows.”

"But on D+18, when a most important “visitor” came to Baqubah, not only did he not seem to cause a hiccup, but everyone I talked with was happy to see him. General Petraeus came to Baqubah on 7 July 2007, amid practically zero fuss."

Sounds like the troops were glad to see him.

The battle in Baqubah called Arrowhead Ripper.

".... street by street, house by house, step by step, the infantry soldiers cleared most of Baqubah, working under intensely stressful conditions. They cleared block by block, no place to sleep but the ground, no showers to wash away the sweaty grit of war. This combat-experienced brigade outsmarted the enemy. I’d like to say more, but the enemy will get no help from these pages."

Unlike our liberal press, the liberal congress and the likes of Sheeeeeahan, who play right into the hands of the enemy by not even admitting that the US is in a war against an enemy.

Gas tax proposal: 50 cents a gallon to save the earth.

This is not the first attempt or thought of raising taxes to force consumers like you and me, the regular people out here all across the land to become aware of the possible calamity of a possible global warming nightmare, and to pay for the bigger government bureaucracy needed to sort all of this stuff out.

“House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman John Dingell (D-Mich.) will propose a new carbon tax that would increase the gasoline tax by 50 cents, the lawmaker said in an interview on C-SPAN’s ‘Newsmakers’ airing Sunday.”   The Hill Report.

“In addition to raising the gasoline tax, Dingell’s new proposal would institute a “double digit” tax on each ton of carbon dioxide emitted.”

And Al Gore said, Amen and Amen brother.

Let’s see, If you drive 15,000 miles a year and get 25 miles to a gallon, you would consume 600 gallons of gas, so $300 a year per vehicle is really not all that much, is it.  Wikipedia reports that in 2004 there were 243,023,485 registered vehicles in the US.  Since some are going to be driven a lot less and some will have dramatically larger miles, for the sake of argument, assume that they each drove 15,000 miles a year. Therefore using the same formulas as above, the federal government would take in a whopping $70.2 billion.  But, of course, there would be a cut back by consumers as most of us would voluntarily reduce our driving, therefore reducing the gas usage, therefore reducing the total gas sold, therefore reducing the number of gas stations as some would go out of business, therefore reducing the number of people working, therefore reducing the number of cars on the road, therefore reducing the taxes coming in from other sources, therefore the need to increase taxes in other areas, therefore reducing the number of people working in the auto and oil industry, therefore increasing the need for more incentives for the consumers to buy cars and more taxes, therefore reducing the number of everything sold, therefore reducing the number of people working in the stores and the manufacturing plants, therefore reducing the amount of higher-end groceries sold, therefore reducing the number of farmers, reducing the need for migrant illegal Mexican workers.

Wow, that’s an amazing way to reduce the number of illegal immigrants in the country.
