How to ruin your Senate career. Side with Kennedy.

The people in Arizona are apparently very upset with Senator Jon Kyl for being part of the committee that drafted the latest immigration bill behind closed doors.  But what about John McCain, he sides right in there with Teddy Kennedy on this same bill.  McCain supports the bill.

State Rep. Russell Pearce, R-Mesa,  "The public has spoken loud and clear on this issue," Pearce said. "It is absolutely outrageous and treasonous. When are they going to get the message in Washington?"

How did Kyl get appointed to the committee?  Whatever.  Any republican that supports this bill should start packing their bags.   What is being said and written in reaction to the bill is not complimentary, but a very angry response to a very stupid "more of the same" kind of legislation that got the country in this mess to begin with.  And Mc Cain supports the bill also.

And, this just in, McCain and a fellow republican, John Cornyn of Texas,  got into a shouting match about the bill and some words were spoken in the heat of the, shall I be polite and say discussion, that were more like a drunken sailors remarks.  Read more.

"At a bipartisan gathering in an ornate meeting room just off the Senate floor, McCain complained that Cornyn was raising petty objections to a compromise plan being worked out between Senate Republicans and Democrats and the White House. He used a curse word associated with chickens and accused Cornyn of raising the issue just to torpedo a deal."

"Things got really heated when Cornyn accused McCain of being too busy campaigning for president to take part in the negotiations, which have gone on for months behind closed doors. "Wait a second here," Cornyn said to McCain. "I've been sitting in here for all of these negotiations and you just parachute in here on the last day. You're out of line."

"McCain, a former Navy pilot, then used language more accustomed to sailors (not to mention the current vice president, who made news a few years back after a verbal encounter with Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont)."

"[Expletive] you! I know more about this than anyone else in the room," shouted McCain at Cornyn. McCain helped craft a bill in 2006 that passed the Senate but couldn't be compromised with a House bill that was much tougher on illegal immigrants."

McCain, you are not sounding very presidential.  Kyl, That was a big mistake to be on that committee and come out with this bill.

Ruin your career in two easy steps.  1. Choose to side with Kennedy.   2.  Go on a raving rant in front of enemies.

Score:  Kyl, 1 point against you.  McCain, two points against you.
McCain, you may want to consider skipping that next debate.
