I was just taking some time this morning to browse through the new comprehensive immigration bill as promoted by the senate. All of us on the right of the aisle, that right side means that we are right and they are wrong, in the language of the grass roots of the heartland have been tearing this bill apart and would rather have a bill concentrating on closing the borders now, and later on consider any amnesty provisions separately.
Anyway, my first observation is the size of S.1348. 790 pages in the PDF format in 832 Sections. Is there anyone in the Senate that has read and understands the content of the entire package? How many of the members of the Senate have read the entire package?
Scrolling through the sections of the bill, there is one section that caught my eye and I’d like to highlight and comment on. SEC. 113. REPORTS ON IMPROVING THE EXCHANGE OF INFORMATION ON NORTH AMERICAN SECURITY. Now if you’ve been paying attention to any of the other actions of our federal government concerning what is called the SPP, or the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America, you know that an agreement has been signed by all three countries, Canada, the US and Mexico for the purpose of establishing a cooperative approach to advance our common security and prosperity.
See this link.
Back to section 113 of S.1348, the requirements of reports: The secretary of state “shall submit to Congress a report on improving the exchange of information related to the security of North America.” Section 113 (b) (3) (c) states “
in exploring methods for Canada, Mexico, and the United States to waive visa requirements for nationals and citizens of the same foreign countries.“Yes, it actually says
to waive visa requirements for nationals or citizens of either Canada, the US or Mexico. Am I skipping over another section of this bill that is related to closing the borders, and toughing up on our illegal immigration migration into the US that would require a visa for entry into the US?
Is this all legal talk I just don’t get? And if I don't get it, will the bureaucrats at the agencies get it?
Perhaps one of our fine senators can explain this to me, Senator Edward Kennedy for example, as he was one of the sponsors, or GOP presidential candidate John McCain as being a firm supporter of this bill.
