Now, I've known that this pipe has been leaking for some time, but you know how a small dribble can be just put off and let go. Next week turns into next month and even next year, and then pop, it just burst open and all this water was spewing out all over the place. I called the City, they came out and said I needed to call a plumber. The plumber came out and said because the line was installed so many years ago, it did not meet the new codes and that I would have to have a completely new line installed from the city main to the house. Called the city again, but it took them three days to come back as the water continued to run, flooding the yard and now into the basement. They said, yes a new line would have to be installed to meet the new codes, and yes they could do that, and they would schedule it as soon as the environmental checks were made, as soon as the plans could be drawn up, and as soon as the equipment could be made available and the police would be available to block the road off so the work could proceed unimpeded by traffic. Meanwhile the water has been running and now disrupting the neighbors driveway. Then he assisted me one evening and turned the water off at the meter.
Duh. I can use bottled water temporarily.
Is this not the same as our illegal immigration problem with the open borders? The feds think of all kinds of plans to deal with everything but the immediate situation.
Turn off the water!
CLOSE THE BORDER ! ! ! ! ! !
That's the first thing to do, and then the plans and studies can be made for step number two.
