Would Mr. Lott like to explain to the republican conservative base what he meant when he said: "Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem."
Now we all know that Trent Lott was supportive of that huge incomprehensible comprehensive immigration give away program.
We could give Trent Lott the benefit of the doubt and think that he meant that dealing with the problem of talk radio is just something that congress is going to have to live with.
Or, did he mean something else?
Now we all know that the likes of Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Boortz, Ingraham, and two dozen other radio talk show hosts, along with the bloggers, and the thousands of conservative commentators expressed their combined and unified outrage at this bill. That unified base rose up and called, and e-mailed, and faxed their Senators to oppose the Kennedy-McCain-Bush immigration package. It worked.
But now, Senator Trent Lott is unhappy with the base and is beginning to sound like Harry Reid. If the people take up their microphones and keyboards, then restrict their usage. Is that what you meant Mr. Lott? If the people speak up against the desires of the power elites, then quench free speech.
That is not the American way of doing things Mr. Lott, and you swore to uphold the constitution. That constitution is still active and it specifies how the government is restricted, not how the people are restricted. Get that straight. It specifies how the government is restricted.
Mr. Lott seems to have forgotten that. Voters can also forget about Mr. Lott on a certain day.
